Tragic Road Accident in Cumilla’s Paduya Bazar: Four Family Members Killed

A devastating road accident struck Cumilla’s Paduya Bazar on Friday afternoon, claiming the lives of four members of the same family. The incident occurred near the U-turn point on the Dhaka–Chattogram highway when a cement-laden lorry lost control and overturned. The heavy vehicle crashed onto a private car and a CNG autorickshaw, causing severe casualties.

All four passengers in the private car, belonging to the same family, died instantly. The victims were identified as Mohammad Omar Ali (80), his wife Nurjahan Begum (65), and their two sons, Abul Hashem (50) and Abul Kashem (45). They were residents of Hosenpur village in Cumilla’s Barura upazila.

Meanwhile, three passengers traveling in the autorickshaw were critically injured and rushed to Cumilla Medical College Hospital for treatment. Eyewitnesses said the lorry lost control while trying to avoid an oncoming bus, leading to the tragic crash within moments.

Fire Service and Highway Police arrived swiftly at the scene to carry out rescue operations. The accident has cast a shadow of grief across the local community.
